Vingegaard takes part in Tour de France

Two-time Tour de France winner Jonas Vingegaard will be at the start of this year’s edition of the cycling race. The Dane from the Visma team broke his collarbone and suffered a lung injury in a serious fall during the Tour of the Basque Country in early April.

Vingegaard has not competed in a race since then. As Visma announced on Thursday, the defending champion will now tackle the Tour. “I’m looking forward to starting the Tour. The last few months have not been easy,” said Vingegaard in a statement from the Dutch team.

He triumphed in Paris in 2022 and 2023. This year the Tour starts on June 29th. The Slovenians Tadej Pogacar and Primoz Roglic are considered the favorites. Pogacar won the Giro d’Italia in May and wants to be the first rider since Marco Pantani in 1998 to achieve the double.
