By taking the best out of Marie Dominique Larras (6/3, 6/4), Virginie Buisson won her fifteenth French champion title, the first in the 55-year-old ladies category.
A quick week for Virginia Bush ! The TC Municipal Denain (3/6, HDF) member managed to lift the trophy without losing a single set, at the end of a windy week.
“I was happy, I played quite well and managed to adapt to the wind quite quickly,” explained the interested party. With only three games lost in her first three matches (!), it’s hard to dream of better before the final encounter against a player she knows perfectly.
“We are often in the French team together, we know each other well, we have played each other often since we were 35 years old.,” continued Virginie Buisson. “We had a nice little final. It wasn’t an extraordinary match but I won and it’s never easy to play a girlfriend. (laughs).“
After her fourteen titles already won in the various lower categories (five in 35 years, four in 40 years, four in 45 years and one in 50 years), she adds a new line to her list of achievements with a bonus to boot!It’s a bit special because it’s in my region, it’s always nice to win in Hauts-de-France”, added the one who was crowned under the eyes of a rather special supporter since her mother had made the trip for the final!
