The sports world is mourning Janisa Johnson. The former volleyball player, who once played in the Bundesliga, has died. She fought her illness for a long time and documented it on Instagram.

Her brave and remarkable last fight was lost. The sports world is mourning the loss of former volleyball player Janisa Johnson. The American died of colon cancer at the age of just 32. “In loving memory of Janisa. We will never forget your beautiful smile. May your last jump be the highest. Rest in peace,” reads a post published on her Instagram account.

Johnson has had a long battle with cancer. Johnson’s disease was discovered in March 2021. At the time, she was playing for the Polish first division club Radomka Radom. Since then, she has taken up the fight against cancer and has repeatedly given insights into her health on Instagram.

Johnson played for the Berlin Bundesliga club Köpenicker SC in the 2015/16 season. She then played for teams in the Philippines and Poland. In the summer of 2022, she made a comeback at the Spanish club CD Heidelberg from Las Palmas. But the illness was stronger. Many former teammates expressed their condolences on Instagram after the terrible news of her death.
