WATCH ⟩ “Panthers” hockey players suffer their first loss in the final series of the Stanley Cup

“Panthers” lost to Edmonton “Oilers” 1:8 (1:3, 0:3, 0:2). Florida’s four-game winning streak remains 3-1.

Matias Janmarks put the home team in the lead after three minutes, but less than five minutes later, Adams Henrik doubled the lead. The Panthers responded with a goal by Vladimir Tarasenko, but Dylan Holloway restored the Oilers’ two-goal lead with just over five minutes left in the first period.

Connor McDavid, Darnell Nurse, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored in the Panthers’ goal in the second period, but Holloway and Ryan McLeod scored in the final third, helping the Oilers to a devastating victory.

McDavid, who finished the match with four (1+3) assists, has 32 assists in the Stanley Cup this season, breaking Wayne Gretzky’s record, which was achieved in the 1988 Stanley Cup.

The fifth match of the series will take place in Sunrise on June 18, but if more games are needed, they are scheduled for June 21 in Edmonton and June 24 in Sunrise. All games start at 3 p.m. Latvian time.

NHL rookie Balinsky has not played in the Stanley Cup.

The “Panthers” team has played in the NHL finals twice so far and lost both times, like the Colorado Avalanche in 1996 and the Vegas Golden Knights last year. In those years, Sandis Ozoliņš and Teodors Bļugers became the winners of the Stanley Cup, who are the only Latvians to lift the most prestigious trophy in hockey.
