When the Minots from the Marseille neighborhoods play their final at the Vélodrome

To the sound of “Come with me” by Puff Dady – well known to Marseille fans – the kids from Olympique de Marseille celebrate their victory against the youngsters from Burel FC (3-1). On the lower level of the Ganay stand, where some 8,000 people are gathered, the atmosphere is good-natured as they greet the first winners of the HCup, an inter-district tournament that is already very popular in Marseille, where the U14s from the Olympique club were competing for the first time.

On the bench traditionally reserved for OM’s opponents, current Comoros goalkeeper Salim Ben Boina details the genesis of the tournament: “The idea came during the lockdown. Afterwards, we organised a neighbourhood match which was a big success. We said to ourselves that we wanted to do a whole tournament. We got into the game and today, we are here at the Vélodrome.”
