William Villeger Returns to Aix-en-Provence: French Men’s Doubles Champion makes Club Switch

After six years spent at ASPTT Strasbourg, the 2023 French men’s doubles champion William Villeger – with Strasbourg-born Julien Maïo – chose to return to Provence and the club from which he left in 2018, Aix-en-Provence . The international, sidelined for a year between March 2023 and March 2024 due to an injury, then a wrist operation, leaves a postal club which won the Top 12 bronze medal on May 18 in Chambly He had reached 28th place in the world in DH with Fabien Delrue at the end of 2022-beginning of 2023, before his separation from his partner, then his injury.

The ASPTTS also lost the young Tino Daoudal who joined Quimper (Regional), but recruited the Azeri Ade Resky Dwicahyo, 58th in singles, and the double French cadet champion in singles and mixed Manon Heitzmann (ES2B, N2), also vice-champion in women’s doubles. She also brings back her former player, the German Philipp Discher, back after a season at Volant des 3 Frontières, who, like Heitzmann, should initially play in N2.

Note that Julien Maïo will no longer wear the jersey of Maromme, relegated to N1, but will defend that of another N1 club, Issy-les-Moulineaux, former leader of French badminton (12 titles from 1991 to 2012 ).
