Wimbledon: the draw for the men’s and women’s draws with Djokovic, Murray and a Monfils-Mannarino duel

You had to go find his name at the foot of the board, but it is there. Having undergone meniscus surgery in his right knee on June 5, Novak Djokovic is well aligned on the starting line at Wimbledon, less than a month later. The form of number 2 will be the attraction of this first round of the London Grand Slam. Czech qualifier Vit Kopriva inherited this first ride alongside the Serbian.

In the quarter-finals, the projections promise a duel between “Nole” and Hubert Hurkacz, seeded number 7. In this quarter-final, the French will have a lot to do, between Corentin Moutet, the best French player at Roland-Garros, who will face the 9th world player Alex de Minaur, while Arthur Fils, opposed to Dominic Stricker will aim for a first accession to the second round of the tournament.

Finally, Andy Murray is also well present. The British veteran was spoiled with a tricky first match to play against Tomas Machac (38th). Most of the other enticing matches are in the first half of the draw, with the hypothesis of an all-Italian second round between Jannik Sinner and Matteo Berrettini, finalist at Wim in 2021. Freshly champion of Roland-Garros, Carlos Alcaraz has a date with the qualifier Mark Lajal (262nd).

Parry against Osaka

In the blue section, it’s heavy with two French duels: Gaël Monfils against Adrian Mannarino and Alexandre Müller against Hugo Gaston. Arthur Cazaux will challenge Zizou Bergs. This meeting promises to be a spectacle, like the confrontation between Frances Tiafoe and Matteo Arnaldi.

Among the ladies, Iga Swiatek will face Sofia Kenin, whom she dominated during her first Porte d’Auteuil final in 2020. Located in the same quarter of the table as the world number 1, Caroline Garcia will evaluate herself against the Russian Anna Blinkova.

In the second half of the draw, Varvara Gracheva will debut her status as the eighth-finalist in Paris against Lesia Tsurenko. Diane Parry inherited an impressive Naomi Osaka at Roland-Garros, while the most promising matchup of this start will concern Karolina Muchova and Paula Badosa.
