WTA 250: Diane Parry passes the first round in Nottingham, not Clara Burel

Roland-Garros barely ended on Sunday when the ATP and WTA circuits switched to grass mode. The French numbers 2 and 3, Clara Burel and Diane Parry, played their first round at the WTA 250 in Nottingham this Monday and could face each other in the event of victory. But that won’t be the case. Still weighed down by her service (30% of points won behind her second ball), Burel, 42nd in the world, did not exist (6-3, 6-3) against the Australian Daria Saville (84th).

A little later, Parry (64th) won (6-3, 6-2) against the Spaniard Cristina Bucsa (67th). With 7 aces and 83% of points won behind her first ball, the 21-year-old Frenchwoman served very well. She will therefore be Saville’s next opponent.
