87 participants gathered today at the Samuel Ferrer Pavilion in the capital of Cuenca to compete, precisely, in the Samuel Ferrer Memorial, which was celebrating its XXVII edition. Lively Saturday with matches continued throughout the day, which ended up crowning Jorge and Lucía Jérez as the winners in the federated absolute categories.
Jorge beat young Marcos Romero, from Albatros, in the final, who competed at all since there was no under 17 category. The federated runner-up was also local: Jimena Alonso. In short, CD Bádminton Albatros has achieved good positions in the different categories that have been competed, adding many climbs to the podium.
In addition, the tournament has had players not only from Cuenca, but also from El Provencio, Cañete, Toledo –the champion Jorge Pérez comes from there and is currently in the national top 70-, Albacete, Valencia…
The trophy presentation was attended by Samuel Ferrer’s brothers, as well as Charo Rodríguez – Councillor for Sports of the Cuenca City Council – and María del Carmen Checa – President of the Casablanca Residents’ Association.
