Yomiuri Giants Unveil Collaborative Uniforms with Tiffany & Co. for 90th Anniversary

On June 20th, the Yomiuri Giants unveiled their new uniforms in collaboration with Tiffany & Co. at the Tokyo Dome. At the press conference for the media and official fan club, four players, Kazuma Okamoto, Hisayoshi Nagano, Tomoyuki Sugano, and Shosei Togo, appeared on stage to talk about their impressions of the uniforms and their enthusiasm for the game. The team has designated the games against the Yokohama DeNA Baystars on September 7th and 8th as “Tiffany & Co. Day,” and players, managers, and coaches will wear the uniforms during the games.

This collaboration was realized as part of the Yomiuri Giants’ 90th anniversary project. It was triggered by Tiffany’s design of the new logo that will be used on the uniforms from the 2024 season. The “TG” (TOKYO GIANTS) logo was also revived for the first time in 70 years on the visiting uniforms, attracting attention from fans.

The collaborative uniforms are based on black and white, with Tiffany blue, the symbolic color of Tiffany, used throughout. The “Tiffany & Co.” logo is embroidered under the uniform number. This is the first time in the history of Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) that a luxury brand logo has been featured on a uniform. The collaborative uniforms, caps, and socks will not be sold to the general public.

Captain Okamoto commented on the collaborative uniform, “It’s a design we’ve never seen before, and I like the subtle Tiffany logo on the back. I can’t wait to wear this uniform and play a game.” He said his favorite is the cap, “not only because of the TG logo on the front, but also because the underside of the brim is decorated with Tiffany blue.” He went on to say, “I want to play a good game on Tiffany Day, liven up the atmosphere, and do my best to get our hands on the Central League championship trophy made by Tiffany.”

Shintaro Tachibana, president of Tiffany & Co. Japan Inc., also appeared at the event and commented, “It was inevitable that a collaboration would take place between Japan’s oldest club, the Yomiuri Giants, and Tiffany, which was founded 187 years ago. This was a memorable endeavor.” He concluded by saying, “Tiffany has a deep connection to baseball since 1888, having produced numerous trophies for Major League Baseball (MLB), as well as the World Baseball Classic and the Japan Central League championship trophy. We hope to continue to be a brand that adds color to special moments in the future.”
