Top players, but also clubs from home and abroad, provide an insight into the ins and outs of the football world (almost) every day via Instagram, X or other internet channels. In this edition of VZ Social, attention is paid to Kobbie Mainoo, who stayed on the bench for ninety minutes on Thursday during a disappointing draw against Denmark.
The Three Lions got away well with a 1-1 draw against the Danes. While Mainoo was allowed to substitute for five minutes in the first group match of the European Championship against Serbia (0-1 win), he did not play at all on Thursday.
To his dismay, the youngster was kept on the bench for ninety minutes by national coach Gareth Southgate. The same applied to Cole Palmer, who is one of the absolute trendsetters at Chelsea but plays a supporting role in the England national team.
After the draw against Denmark, Mainoo posted a telling photo on X, showing him sitting on the bench next to Palmer. As text he only posted the hashtag #EURo2024.
