In the wake of Victor Wembanyama, freaks increasingly fuel the fantasies of basketball fans. No wonder, then, that the recent exploits of the Chinese colossus Zhang Ziyu have made the rounds on the web in recent hours.
While small-ball was still the law a few years ago in the NBA, its time now seems to have passed. Tall pivots are indeed regaining a preponderant place within the league, notably thanks to the new generation of big men. The latter, played by Victor Wembanyama, actually displays crazy measurements… and could well not be limited to the men’s circuit.
Beyond 2m20, Zhang Ziyu tortures the competition
A few years ago, Yao Ming had somewhat served as an example to follow in the NBA for freaks of his type. Now, China could once again see one of its representatives paving the way like this, but this time in the WNBA. The one named Zhang Ziyu in any case seems destined to evolve sooner or later at the highest level, she who is currently crushing her opponents during the Asia Cup U18:
