Alexander Zverev does not currently believe that it is possible to take part in the Olympic mixed doubles competition with Angelique Kerber this summer in Paris. “That is not a decision I am making. The option is not there because we are not in the rankings,” said the gold medalist in singles at Wimbledon. “If anything changes, we can talk about it. I would love to play with Angie, we have been saying that for years.“
Doubles specialist Laura Siegemund is a candidate for the German mixed pairing in Paris. She also said she would like to compete alongside Zverev. The two formed a successful pairing together at the United Cup in Australia at the beginning of the year.
Zverev wants to play in mixed or men’s doubles
It is still unclear whether Zverev will play mixed doubles at all. Zverev wants to compete in two of the three possible disciplines at the Olympic tennis tournament. The 27-year-old from Hamburg said that he will only decide at short notice whether he will go for medals in the mixed doubles or doubles competition in addition to the singles.

That depends on whether Dominik Koepfer and Jan-Lennard Struff get a place in the doubles competition in Paris based on their rankings, said Zverev. “If they get in, I won’t take a second competition away from anyone. If they don’t get in, I’ll play doubles with Struffi,” said the world number four.
