¦Świątek personally said goodbye to the legend. The last match at Wimbledon Tennis

Iga Świątek did not have the opportunity to play on grass before Wimbledon. She withdrew from the tournament in Berlin to rest a bit after winning three tournaments in a row. However, she had a very positive experience with a surface she does not like very much. In the first round, she dealt with Sofia Kenin without any major problems (6:3, 6:4). Her next opponent, Petra Martić, did not cause her any problems either. The Croatian was not able to take even a set from her. “She did her job”, “A controlled advancement” – experts were delighted. It turns out that after the match, Świątek did not go for a well-deserved rest, but appeared on the center court again. This time, however, she played a completely different role.

Iga Świątek showed up at Murray’s match. She said goodbye to the legend

Right after her meeting, a doubles match was played on the main court in London. It featured one of the tennis legends, Andy Murray. On one side of the net he was accompanied by his brother Jamie, also a decorated player who had won the Australian Open and the US Open in doubles. It was one of the few opportunities to see Andy in action in London, as he had withdrawn from singles due to health reasons.

In the end, Murray and his brother lost 6:7(6), 4:6 to the duo John Peers / Rinky Hijikata. Despite everything, they left their hearts on the court, for which they received huge applause from the packed stands. Tennis stars also appeared on the pitch, including Iga Świątek, Novak Djokovic and John McEnroe. After a short speech by the Briton, they formed a lane for him and thanked him for the emotions he had provided in London both today and in the past. After everything, Murray approached the tennis players and hugged them.

However, this was not the last match of the Briton at Wimbledon. He will play in the mixed doubles with Emma Raducanu. This match is scheduled for Friday, July 5. However, this was his last appearance in doubles at this major tournament, which was an exceptional event. Especially since he triumphed in London twice, but in singles (2013, 2016).

Świątek in the third round of Wimbledon

Now Świątek can calmly return to training and preparations for the next match. In it, she will face Yulia Putintseva. There is no doubt that the Pole will be the favorite. So far, the ladies have faced each other four times and each time our compatriot has been on top. Let’s hope that this time she will not ruin her record against the Kazakh.
