Admira Wacker Eyeing Title Contention with New Signings and Potential Addition of Josef Weberbauer

Admira Wacker wants to compete for the title in the ADMIRAL 2nd League next season. New coach Thomas Silberberger has already secured a number of high-caliber new signings, including second division top scorer Deni Alar from DSV Leoben.

Now another man could join who spent last season with the relegated team. Right-back Josef Weberbauer (26) is completing his degree, as “Salzburg24” reports that there is currently a one-week trial training session in the southern part of the city.

Most recently, he kept fit at the “AMS” camp run by the players’ union younion (all participants >>>), and was invited to a trial training session by Admira shortly after his arrival. “We had contact around four weeks ago, but then it went quiet. It’s all the nicer that they want to take a closer look at me now,” said Weberbauer.

17 Bundesliga games for Ried

The Kuchler has an interesting CV. In February 2020, after stints at Kuchl, Anif and SAK, he made the leap into professional football at GAK at the age of 21. There he was so convincing that Bundesliga club SV Ried signed him in winter 2022, and in summer 2023 he went to Leoben.

In the ADMIRAL Bundesliga, Weberbauer made 17 appearances for SV Ried.

After the first few sessions, Weberbauer has a good feeling. But nothing is set in stone yet. For now, he wants to impress in the ADMIRAL 2nd League. Then he’ll look to the top division: “The games with SV Ried shouldn’t be the only ones at the top.”
