African representatives; Egypt, Cameroon, Angola and Cote d’Ivoire have gone winless in their first round matches against their opponents in the ongoing FIBA 2024 Men’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments (OQT), Completesports.com reports.
The qualifying tournament hosted by Greece, Latvia, Spain and Puerto Rico allows the twenty-four participating countries to fight for the four tickets available for the next Paris 2024 Olympic Games, which will take place from July 26 to August 11.
The first day’s record showed that none of the African representatives won a single match, with Egypt failing to tame the clutches of the Dominican Republic, losing with a margin of 13, which ended Group A 77-90, while Cameroon’s encounter against Montenegro ended with a narrow margin of 4, 66-70.
Other results showed Spain beating Angola by an 8-point margin (89-81), while Lithuania beat Ivory Coast by a narrow 4-point margin (97-93).
The matches continue today with Angola taking on Lebanon, while Greece face Egypt. Cameroon will face Brazil, while Ivory Coast will meet Mexico.
