Albacete Badminton Club Shines at National Ranking Event in Las Torres de Cotillas (Murcia)

Las Torres de Cotillas (Murcia) hosted another event counting towards the national ranking in the under-13, under-17 and absolute categories, and nine players from the Albacete Badminton Club travelled to complete another successful participation.

In the under-13 category, Diego Alejandro Vizcaíno, María Paños and Mariela Martínez continue with their training, learning in each competition while waiting for good results to arrive.

The U-17 participation was once again led by Lucía Barbero, accompanied by Nadia Henic and Sergio Jiménez. Lucía continues to show that she is in top form and achieved a comfortable victory in the final against Madrid’s Victoria Burgos by 21-19 and 21-11.

Lucía also won the silver medal in women’s doubles, alongside Albacete’s Lucía Marqueño (Albarena), in a hard-fought three-set match.

Sergio and Nadia did not win a prize, but they did have a good competition.

In the absolute category, Miguel Serrano Quereda and Leda Calero participated. Leda, in the doubles modalities with Víctor Buades (Aspe) in mixed and with María Nieves Breo (Las Torres) in doubles, did not win a medal but did show a lot of competitiveness and good sensations.

Miguel Serrano achieved another success in his career. Drawing on his natural talent, with much effort and suffering, he went through the rounds until he reached the final against Francisco Coronado (Alicante), which turned out to be more comfortable than expected and fell on the Albacete side by 21-19 and 21-15.

Participation in this national event was completed with the presence of Mario Serrano as track referee.
