Alcaraz Defeats Djokovic in 2023 Wimbledon Final

Wimbledon final: 2023 Alcaraz beat Djokovic

Last year, both top stars played a high-class final at the All England Club that lasted 4 hours 42 minutes, which Alcaraz ultimately won. Djokovic is now making a new attempt at his eighth title in London, which would put him on a par with record winner Roger Federer. For the Serb, it is the sixth final in a row at Wimbledon.

Last year’s winner was confident, however. “I don’t feel new here anymore and I know what a final feels like here. I will try to do everything well,” said Alcaraz, who started nervously against the Russian Medvedev. It was only from the second set onwards that he was able to develop his dominant game and captivate the almost 15,000 spectators, including football star Luka Modric and 1991 tournament winner Michael Stich, on Centre Court.

The former world number one, who won trophies at Wimbledon as well as the 2022 US Open and most recently the French Open at a young age, earned his fourth Grand Slam final. So far, he has always triumphed in his major finals and continues to work hard to get into the sport’s thick record books.

Djokovic fills entire chapters and wants to add more pages. After his knee injury and subsequent operation at the beginning of June, hardly any experts had the experienced player on their list. Djokovic also got off to a somewhat shaky start in the tournament. But he improved from round to round and showed his usual aggressiveness when he demanded more respect from the audience.

Djokovic was highly concentrated against Musetti – and showed himself ready for an exciting final.
