Monday was not Alpecin-Deceuninck’s day in the Tour de France. With Jasper Philipsen, the Belgian team had the top favorite for the day’s victory, but the sprinter fell in the final. His helper Jonas Rickaert also fell during the stage. The two are doing well, Alpecin-Deceuninck now announced on social media.

Alpecin-Deceuninck will ride this year’s Tour de France in a special ‘Grey Attack’ shirt. The formation around leaders Mathieu van der Poel and Jasper Philipsen will ride in a new, gray version for the next three weeks. Do you want a chance to win this unique shirt? Then take part in our competition and who knows, you might soon be riding in this brand new cycling jersey yourself.

Philipsen suffered a bruise and a graze to his right buttock in a fall in the last three kilometers. “Luckily our top sprinter had a good night and seems to have recovered well,” Alpecin-Deceuninck wrote on X.

After the third stage, Philipsen himself gave in CyclingFlash already indicated that the damage was ‘considering the circumstances’. “I certainly hit the ground at sixty kilometres per hour, but fortunately it was a good road. I am happy that I can continue the Tour and that it is not so bad, although I would have liked to participate.”

Rickaert
Not only Philipsen, but also his teammate Rickaert fell during the third stage. He also had a good night, reports Alpecin-Deceuninck. “Jonas Rickaert, who suffered a bruise on his right lower leg, is also feeling better after treatment with ice and an anti-inflammatory. We will start again at full strength this afternoon. Jasper and Jonas can recover a bit today with the next sprint stage in mind.”
