Alvarado Humiliated by Tristán Suárez in 2-1 Defeat: DT Resigns and Fans Boo

Tristán Suárez, with order, won 2-1. The team from Mar del Plata was criticized by its own fans during the match and was booed. It is becoming more involved with each match in the fight to be at the bottom.

Alvarado suffered its worst defeat in this Primera Nacional. It was a team without a compass with the score tied, ahead and at a disadvantage. Tristán Suárez, a direct rival in the fight to stay in the category, exposed all its flaws, won 2-1 and unleashed anger from the local fans, who said goodbye to their players with whistles and hurtful chants.

To make matters worse, the DT Mauricio Giganti resigned minutes after the match.

The “Torito” played a pitiful match at the “José María Minella” Arena, whose playing field looked in a lamentable state.

The playing field, however, was bad for both of them. And the worst thing about Alvarado was that he didn’t have a single idea. Beyond a couple of fleeting encounters with Jaurena, Vadalá and Becker, his only resource was to throw balls without rhyme or reason at a “9” like Rebecchi who couldn’t stand a single one with his back turned.

Tristán Suárez brought order and a little more judgment. Little more. Enough to create the only opportunities and to make the fans lose patience, who after half an hour were already singing the classic “Players, let’s see if we understand this…”

However, Alvarado got it right once and took the lead. Malagueño climbed up the wing and sent a cross to Rebecchi, who was “shirted” in the area. The ball went to Vadalá and his attempt at finishing stumbled against Pérez Serra’s hand. Llobet awarded the penalty and the former Boca player himself converted it with a centered shot.

The goal was far from calming the home team. Far from clarifying their ideas or affirming their ball handling, back from half-time, it pushed them against Lungarzo.

Piling up men at the back was not synonymous with good defending and Tristán Suárez had three clear opportunities to equalise in the first quarter of an hour of the second half.

Pancho Martinez’s team was lacking some spice. However, this time two of the “Torito’s” usual backbones, Ortiz and Lungarzo, failed and paved the way for him.

At 17′ the centre-back came out of the back with a bad pass, Pérez Serra cut it off and Lavezzi extended it. Aleo and Malagueño failed in their attempt to cut off his cross pass to Almada, who faced Lungarzo and beat him with a cross shot.

Nine minutes later, Lavezzi himself captured a ball near the half moon and fired a powerful shot from a half turn. The goalkeeper sent a long rebound towards the middle and Francisco Molina from Chaco capitalized on it to score the 2-1.

That blow was too strong and Alvarado could not reverse it.

The defeat leaves them more involved in the fight to stay in the category than in the Reducido. And with a “tough” fixture ahead.
