Andrei Rublev Beats Own Knee in Outburst at Wimbledon: “I Wouldn’t do that if I was allowed to hit the ground with the bat”

Tennis professional Andrei Rublev has beaten his own knee bloodily during another outburst at Wimbledon.

The Russian, known for his outbursts of anger, hit his left knee seven times with full force with his racket after a botched backhand. A bleeding wound was visible when the players changed sides.

“I wouldn’t do that if I was allowed to hit the ground with the bat,” Rublev later explained his behavior. But he said that “everything was fine.”

Rublev had conceded a 1:4 break in the third set due to his botched shot in the first round match against Argentinian Francisco Comesana. The number six seed ultimately lost to the Grand Slam debutant 4:6, 7:5, 2:6, 6:7 (5:7).
