Speaking on the latest episode of his podcast, Andy Roddick notably discussed Rafael Nadal’s decision to miss Wimbledon in order to better prepare for the Paris Olympics scheduled to start on July 27.
And according to him, the Spaniard may have missed a great opportunity to add a 23rd Grand Slam to his list of achievements.
“He could have won matches and had a great run at Wimbledon if he had chosen to play, but I understand. Changing surfaces is bad for your body. He made the right decision. I don’t know if I totally believe it, but Wimbledon was maybe his best chance to win a Grand Slam or reach the semi-finals, even if you include clay. In any case, I’m happy that we can see him again at the Olympics.”
