Angers captain Kekelly Elenga heads to Asvel Women

It is now official. The captain of UF Angers, Kekelly Elenga (33 years old, 1.86 m) will not honor the last year of her contract that bound her to the Angers club, as announced at the end of May by Ouest-France. After three seasons in Maine-et-Loire, the power forward will come to fill the ranks of a women’s Asvel in reconstruction after the departures of several executives, including Gabby Williams, Marine Johannès and Marine Fauthoux.

The player who has been with Chartres must bring her experience and a certain “stability” to this group for the young Lionesses, as Villeurbanne coach Yoann Cabioc’h underlines in the club’s press release. “Kekelly is coming off two great seasons as a starter with Angers in the LFB and Eurocup. She knows the division perfectly and will bring us her speed, her defense, her aggressiveness and her 3-point shooting,” he adds.

Last season, the Creil native averaged 11 points, 4 rebounds and 1.6 assists. She will be reunited with another Angevine, Julie Wojta, in Villeurbanne. The club had already announced the arrivals of Téa Cléante and Dominique Malonga (returning from loan).
