Litvínov announces the fourth addition to the attack – his offensive ranks will be completed by Slovakian Maxim Čajkovič, who comes to the Ore Mountains from overseas, where he last worked at the Pittsburgh Penguins farm.

“Maxim is still a young and promising player. We are convinced that he has matured both as a player and as a person during his overseas engagements. We promise that his arrival will increase the competition in the attacking ranks,” says CEO Pavel Hynek.

“Max is a dynamic, straightforward hockey player with a good finish. We firmly believe that in him we are getting a player who will be hardworking and will always want to improve,” sports manager Tomáš Vrábel adds on the club’s website.

Cajkovic, who was drafted by Tampa Bay in 2019, spent less than six seasons overseas. After the QMJHL, he played in lower senior competitions for the last three years – in the AHL he played 32 games with a 5+6 record, in the ECHL he recorded 99 starts and 61 points (30+31).

“I felt a lot of interest from the club and got the impression that it would work from both sides. In the end, I decided that this was the best option.’

In the past year, he worked on farms in Minnesota and Pittsburgh, but now he has chosen to return to Europe. He nodded at the extra-league Litvínov’s offer. He returns to the Czech rinks after almost eight years, as a youth player he played in Hodonín and Komet Brno.

“We have been in contact with Litvínov since the end of the season. I felt a lot of interest from the club and got the impression that it would work from both sides. In the end, I decided that this was the best option,” says the 23-year-old Slovak striker about his new place of work.

After the Swede Filip Sandberg, this is another Lithuanian foreign acquisition for the offensive. Earlier, two other players who last worked overseas – Jan Šprynar and Matěj Pekař – have already joined the attacking ranks there, but the former is still hesitating whether to choose the extra league or continue with two seasons in the Canadian junior QMJHL.
