Malang, VIVA – Arema FC officially introduced 3 new foreign players who were introduced at the Arema FC Office on Monday, July 1, 2024. They are the Brazilian Duo Thales Lira who plays as a center back, William Marcilio who plays as a playmaker and the player from South Korea is Choi Bo-kyung who plays as a center back.
Arema FC Team Manager, Wibie Dwi Andriyas said that they deliberately brought in William Marcilio based on the results of last season’s evaluation. Singo Edan does not have a pure playmaker who can control the rhythm of the game.
“Last year we didn’t have a pure playmaker and now we’ve brought in William who can help in attack,” said Wiebie, Tuesday, June 2, 2024.
Wiebie said, these 3 foreign players are tied to a 1-year contract. These three foreign players have been targeted by management for a long time and are projected for the 2024-2025 League 1 season.
In addition, the recruitment of Thales Lira, William Marcilio, Choi Bo-kyung is purely due to the needs of Arema FC’s new coach, Joel Cornelli. In addition, all players recruited are in accordance with Singo Edan’s playing style.
“Thales’ playing style is like Arema FC, stubborn and tough. The point is that everything must be connected with the coach,” he said.
