Sebastián Báez (18th), who had a great start to the year, winning the titles at the ATP 500 in Rio and the ATP 250 in Santiago and from there he chained several tournaments with poor results, lost to the American Brandon Nakashima, by 6 -2, 6-3 and 6-4.

Furthermore, Mariano Navone (32nd) will debut before the Italian Lorenzo Sonego.

Navone became one of the stars of the circuit and was the player who grew the most since the start of the season.

The grass court swing did not start well for either of the Argentines, as both Báez and Navone fell in the first round of the ATP 500 at Queen’s and the ATP 250 at Eastbourne.

In the women’s draw, Nadia Podoroska suffered a tough defeat against Yastremska 6-1 and 7-6(1), in the Argentines’ debut at Wimbledon, the third Grand Slam of the season.

Victory of Alcaraz

The Spanish Carlos Alcaraz defeated Mark Lajal in the first round, in straight sets: 7-6, 7-5 and 6-2.

“I was surprised by Lajal, because I had seen him train and I did not expect the great level he showed. I will closely follow his journey on the circuit and I am sure that I will play against him more often, but I am very happy to have won in my debut,” admitted Alcaraz.
