Ariadna Montiel Reyes: The Secretary of Welfare Focused on Fighting Poverty under President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum

Following her appointment, Ariadna Montiel Reyes assured that during the mandate of President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum she will focus on fighting poverty in the country.

The official has unfinished studies in architecture at the National Autonomous University of Mexico.

She currently serves as Secretary of Welfare and will continue to serve in the role during the next administration.

In 2006, she was a substitute senator, and later, from 2006 to 2012, she served as General Director of the Passenger Transportation Network of the then Federal District.

In 2012, she was elected deputy to the Legislative Assembly of the then Federal District. From 2015 to 2018, she served as federal deputy for the 23rd electoral district in the LXIII Legislature, where she served as secretary of the Mexico City Commission and member of the Committee of the Center for Social Studies and Public Opinion, of Children’s Rights, of Finance and Public Credit, and of Public Education and Educational Services. During that period, she was part of the first parliamentary group of Morena.
