Arnaud De Lie (Lotto-Dstny): “Mark is becoming even more legendary, he does everything perfectly”

Arnaud De Lie (Lotto-Dstny, fourth in the sprint of the 5th stage): “Congratulations to Mark (Cavendish) who is becoming even more legendary. He’s a really good guy. You can have really nice discussions with him. At the Tour de Suisse, I saw him suffer often, and to see him win here is really great. He does everything perfectly. He’s almost 40 years old, he even has the stage on his handlebars as if it were his first Tour de France. To have a passion like that at 39 years old is really incredible, hats off to him.”

“The sprint was even more dangerous than the other time (in Turin) I think, especially with this headwind. It was going fast, but not fast enough for it to be a line. I was a bit far, I waited, I went back up to the left because it was turning a bit to the right. I’m a bit disappointed because I still had some left in the pedal. It’s still a dangerous sprint, but it’s the Tour de France level. It’s great to sprint on finishes like this, where you have to take risks.”
