Arsenal Closing in on Serie A Star: Will Dorgu be the Next Gunner Signing?

The Gunners watched the 19-year-old several times last season as he played 34 times across all competitions, and the Serie A club are holding out for €30 million.

Arsenal are not the only Premier League club keen on Dorgu as Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have been following him for months.

However, it appears they are favourites at the moment to land him if they are willing to do business and meet the demands of Lecce.

The versatility of the Denmark youth international has attracted Arsenal, Spurs and the Reds as he is also an impressive winger despite primarily being a left-back.

Gunners manager MikelArteta believes Dorgu is capable of further strengthening his left flank due to his attacking and defensive qualities, and the teenage sensation impressed Arsenal scouts who saw him in action against Fiorentina and Sassuolo as he scored in both games.

The North Londoners are expected to reach out to his representatives to make further enquiries about what a transfer will entail.

Arsenal are eager to bolster their options on the left, and landing Dorgu will help them with their squad depth in three positions as he can also play as a right winger.

The Gunners are closing in on the signing of Bologna left-sided centre-back Riccardo Calafiori and the Lecce star appears to be next on their radar.

Arsenal were unable to call upon Jurrien Timber last season while Oleksandr Zinchenko did not always impress.

Takehiro Tomiyasu also struggled with his fitness at times and Arteta appears desperate to bring in quality options in the department, and the 6ft 2in Dorgu fits the bill, but whether Arsenal are ready to spend €30m on a player who has played just one season of professional football remains to be seen.
