Aryna Sabalenka Withdraws from Wimbledon Due to Shoulder Injury

He had warned about this during the official sessions with the media before the start of Wimbledon, but had opened the door because “there is some hope that he will play.”

However, hours before he was due to make his debut, with the tournament already underway, he announced his withdrawal.

A tough blow for Wimbledon, much more so for its star, the Belarusian Aryna Sabalenkacurrent champion of the Australian Open and contender for any Grand title.

One of the great entertainers of women’s tennis, out of the picture without even playing.

She confessed that “it’s been frustrating, in the last month I’ve been suffering from pain of different kinds. I try to be positive, but it’s always in my head and I find it hard to deal with it.”

He explained his biggest problem, a shoulder injury. “A really very specific injury. It is very rare, possibly the second or third tennis player who has suffered an injury to this muscle (the teres major).”

And that causes confusion, since “I can do many things. I can train, I can hit baseline, but I suffer when I serve. It gives you the feeling that you don’t have any injury, but the pain appears when I serve. We do an MRI, anything , a lot of rehabilitation, a lot of treatments. But if I have to go out, it hurts.”
