Viterbo, first match of Asfa-Uila: the football team composed of agricultural workers originally from Africa
The players will compete with the Asd Polisportiva Celleno in the parish sports field of Villanova
VITERBO – July 26 will be an indelible date for Asfa-Uila, the football team made up entirely of farm workers originally from Africa: the first match will be played on Friday at 7:30 pm in Viterbo, in the parish sports field in the Villanova district.
The opponents on the field, but not in the fight against agricultural exploitation and for the right to life, will be the players of the Asd Polisportiva Celleno. Everything is ready for the friendly match, organized by the union of agricultural laborers Uila of the municipal league of Viterbo, in collaboration with the Asd Polisportiva Celleno, the parish of Saints Ilario and Valentino and the diocese of the capital.
The conference to present the event was held this morning at the Uil headquarters in Viterbo. The Secretary General of Uila Viterbo Antonio Biagioli, the President of Polisportiva Celleno Piero Bignotti and the Deputy Director of the Migrantes office of the diocese Don Terence Nkandu were present.
Biagioli explained that the match “will see Asfa-Uila on the field against Polisportiva Celleno. Asfa is the first union team in Tuscia. A team of immigrant farm workers, and will play a match against the exploitation of agricultural workers and to claim the right to life, which means the right to relationships and to live in the social context, with full dignity and rights”.
The Secretary General also specified that the match will be followed by others, animated by the same objectives, which will take place throughout the province: “Each match will be a message against exploitation and the dignity of farm workers. Each goal will be a goal against exploitation. And the objective, in perspective, is also to enroll in a category championship, to bring our political-union message everywhere”.
The kick-off will be given by the Bishop of Viterbo Orazio Francesco Piazza and the President of the local Islamic community Mohammed Kdib.
