ASSE Squad Prepares for League 1 Return: Transfer Window Changes and Squad Update

It’s Monday, July 1st, the ASSE squad accompanied by their coach Olivier Dall’Oglio will return to L’Etrat in a week. After having experienced a completely second half muchit’s time to get back to work to take on this rise to League 1.

The Greens know it, after having ensured their rise to League 1 thanks to their victory in the double confrontation against Metz, a new page will be written. Ride the euphoria of the climb, but above all quickly achieve a hold which must be the sole objective of the season. To do this, the Greens will take advantage of a transfer window which risks profoundly changing the current squad.

ASSE squad as of July 1

The club has 34 players under professional contract. The professional group and the reserve group will resume training at the same time. Several players under professional contract will return to the reserve group, such as Israel Kinunga, Marwann Nzuzi and Jebryl Sahraoui for example.

ASSE should record the arrivals of Yunis Abdelhamid, Ben Old and the extension of Aimen Moueffek. Which would bring the squad to 37 players. Concerning Mickaël Nadé, questions are still in order.

The gardians

As in every sector, there should be movement among the goalkeepers. Etienne Green is on the way out. The club plans to recruit a number 2 or even 1 bis goalkeeper to give itself an option in case Gautier Larsonneur has a problem. No leads have really leaked to the press.

The defenders

In the central axis, the arrival of Yunis Abdelhamid numerically replaces the non-extension of Mickaël Nade. Although the final decision has not been made on his case. Also, Anthony Briançon, captain for the 2023-2024 season, will not be selected.

At the full-back level, three of the four full-backs only have one year left on their contracts (Appiah, Petrot and Maçon). It will therefore be necessary to decide on their case. Either agree to let them leave for free, or sell them one year before the end of their contract, or extend them. In this project, the club should recruit 2 full-backs. One on each side. Two departures could also occur in this sector. Amin Cherni is one of the options checked by ASSE!

The midfielder

ASSE has already seen the departure of Dylan Chambost in this sector. A departure that leaves a void in this role of playmaker. A position that will certainly need to be replaced to keep this link between the midfield and the attack. Aimen Moueffek should extend and thus secure one of the three starting places next season. For the rest, uncertainty looms! Lamine Fomba, Florian Tardieu, Thomas Monconduit and Benjamin Bouchouari will not be retained in the event of an offer. Not all of them will leave, however, the club’s desire to recruit an experienced sentinel will necessarily encourage the departure of Tardieu or Monconduit. In this sector, many names are circulating such as Aguibou Camara, Himad Abdelli.

The attackers

The club currently only has three confirmed players at Ligue 2 level: Ibrahim Sissoko, Ibrahima Wadji and Mathieu Cafaro. For the rest, they are only young players who do not yet have the ability to play very frequently in Ligue 1. This sector of the game offers a colossal project. Ben Old arrives to swell the squad, but will be a backup solution while he acclimatizes. The club wants to recruit two additional wingers. Several names are filtering through like Irvin Cardona, Nathanael Mbuku, Killian Corredor but also Zuriko Davitashvili.

The project is therefore still enormous and the team will not be complete for the recovery. However, the championship does not resume until August 18 and the Greens will only have played two matches before the end of the transfer window.
