Association nominates team for Olympics

The Austrian Equestrian Federation has proposed a team of eight and two substitutes to the Austrian Olympic Committee (ÖOC) for nomination at the Olympics. In show jumping, these are Max Kühner, Gerfried Puck and Katharina Rhomberg, with Christoph Obernauer as substitute.

In dressage, Victoria Max-Theurer, Florian Bacher and Christian Schumach as well as Stefan Lehfellner were suggested as possible stand-ins. In eventing, Lea Siegl and Harald Ambros, who qualified at the last minute, were nominated.

“Impressively large team”

“Two complete teams in the dressage and show jumping disciplines, plus two individual places in eventing – that is an impressively large team that has qualified for the 2024 Olympic Games with outstanding performances,” said association president Elisabeth Max-Theurer.

With bronze at the European Championships last year, the show jumpers achieved the first team qualification of a red-white-red team since Atlanta 1996. Max Kühner, fifth in the world rankings, is currently being held back by a broken metacarpal bone.
