Australian Kurtley Beale suffers Achilles tendon rupture

Australia fullback Kurtley Beale has suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon, the Wallabies announced on Monday. The former Racing 92 player (2020-2022) will miss Australia’s test matches against Wales in July, and the serious injury could make the continuation of his career uncertain at the age of 35. The fullback “will undergo surgery today (Monday),” the Australian team revealed on Instagram.

After three years away from the field, Beale, 95 caps, was back with the Wallabies. As a reminder, the fullback had notably been arrested in January 2023 for accusations of sexual assault. He had been acquitted in February, and had returned to competition with Western Force in Super Rugby.

The Australian selection will also be without its centre David Feliuai for its first test match on July 6 in Sydney, absent for “personal reasons”.
