Baltimore Ravens Release Odell Beckham Jr. After One Season

Odell Beckham Jr.’s stint with the Baltimore Ravens lasted just one season, as the spectacular wide receiver was released by his team on Wednesday night.

The 31-year-old veteran was able to be let go by the Maryland organization after the player agreed to a contract restructuring in January, ESPN learned. The modified pact allowed the Ravens to avoid paying “OBJ” a guaranteed $50 million in 2025.

Similar to a contract buyout in the National Hockey League, the NFL team had to accept a penalty on its payroll for the next two years.

Beckham Jr. made just six starts in 14 games with the Ravens, throwing for three touchdowns and 565 yards.

He missed the entire 2022 campaign after tearing his ACL during Super Bowl 56, while playing for the Los Angeles Rams. He also played for the New York Giants and Cleveland Browns during his career.

The Ravens, led by quarterback Lamar Jackson, were held back in the AFC finals in their most recent playoff run. Beckham Jr. caught just four passes in two games.
