Bayer Leverkusen Eyes Talented Argentinian Striker Alejo Sarco for Transfer Deal

Leverkusen is looking around the transfer market and wants to sign a talent from Argentina. The attacker is called Alejo Sarco. He is at loggerheads with his current club.

An official communiqué recently followed. Alejo Sarco has been “removed” from Velez Sarsfield’s professional squad, the Argentine first division club announced, adding that the club’s decision was due to “the player’s refusal” to extend his contract, which expires on December 31, 2024, for another two years. Velez Sarsfield “received only delays and excuses” before the player, his family and his agent recently expressed their refusal. Striker Sarco is therefore on the sidelines for the time being and is no longer part of the professional team.

What does that have to do with Bayer? The Werkself have the talented Argentinian striker on their list and want to sign him, although it is unclear whether the 20-time U-17 international could arrive in Leverkusen this summer or only in the winter. One thing is clear: he would be free in the winter, and a transfer fee would be due this summer, although it should be limited.

Alejo Sarco refuses to renew in Argentina

The 18-year-old has not yet made a huge mark in the men’s division, was substituted on four times in the league season that started in May, scored in the ultimately victorious final of the Copa de la Liga – and was apparently supposed to be slowly introduced before he recently expressed his desire to move on before the Copa America and made it clear that he did not want to continue at Velez Sarsfield.

The players’ side, as Velez Sarsfield’s vice president Augusto Costa explained in an interview with the local media Saturday Velezmade the club “an offer from a European club” – an offer “for a ridiculous amount that was not acceptable under any circumstances”. It was “not a deal for the club, but an imposition on the part of the player, his agent and his family”. Although the club made it clear that it wanted to extend the attacker’s contract, the family ended the negotiations.

Alejo Sarco is considered dynamic and would come as a promising player

It remains to be seen what will happen next with Sarco, who is considered a top talent. He is 1.79 meters tall, not a sprinter, but dynamic and with good basic speed. He also has a fairly stocky body with which he knows how to assert himself and finishes with his left foot.

In Leverkusen, Sarco would initially have the status of a highly capable, promising player who would be gradually introduced. He would certainly need time to get used to things. The centre-forward is still at the very beginning of his career and would also be leaving his home country for the first time.
