Bayern Munich Agrees Deal to Sign Joao Palhinha from Fulham as part of Summer Overhaul

Bayern Munich have reached an agreement with Fulham to sign Joao Palhinha, according to The Guardian.

The midfielder was a transfer target for Bayern last summer but the Bundesliga giants were unable to get a deal over the line on deadline day despite Palhinha having already made the trip to Munich in anticipation of a move.

Palhinha, who has since signed a new deal with Fulham, was wanted by Bayern in January and remained of interest to the Bavarians who have now struck a deal with Fulham worth an initial €51 million plus a further €5m in add-ons.

Palhinha is expected to sign a four-year deal with his medicals scheduled to hold following the conclusion of Portugal’s EURO 2024 campaign in Germany.

The 28-year-old has been a key performer for his country en route to the quarter-final of the ongoing European Championship where they will face off against France on Friday.

Palhinha is one of many new faces expected at the Allianz Arena this summer as Bayern close in on the acquisition of Michael Olise and Xavi Simons from Crystal Palace and RB Leipzig respectively, while Jonathan Tah is also being eyed.

Bayern’s activity in the window so far is largely unsurprising given the fact that they are keen to bounce back from a disappointing campaign which saw them finish a whopping 18 points adrift of champions Bayer Leverkusen.

New head coach Vincent Kompany will be looking to reclaim his side’s league crown off the back of a first trophyless season in 12 years at the Allianz Arena last time out.
