Belgian Paralympic Team Grows with Third Selection for Paris 2024

The third Belgian selection for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games was announced on Friday. Nine athletes have joined the first six athletes selected during the first two selections. Six are involved in para athletics and three in para swimming.

Belgium will now be present in five different sports: para athletics, para badminton, para swimming, para table tennis and para archery from 28 August to 8 September at the Paris Paralympic Games.

The six selected in para-athletics are Lea Bayekula100, 400 and 800m (class T54), Maxime Carabin100 and 400m (class T52), Martin Clobert (who will be accompanied by two guides to be designated), marathon (class T12), Peter Genyn100 and 200m (class T51), Roger Habsch100 and 200m (class T51) and Kiara Maene400m (T20 class) In para swimming, these are Sam the Fisherman400m freestyle (classe S9-SB8-SM9), Tatyana Lebrun100m butterfly, 100m breaststroke, and 200m medley (class S10-SB9-SM10) and Aymeric Parmentier100m breaststroke (S14 class) who will wear the colours of Paralympic Team Belgium.

They join the para badminton player Man-Kei To and the selected in para archery Piotr Van Montagu and in para table tennis Ben Despineux, Laurens Devos, Marc Ledoux et Florian Van Acker. A new selection is expected in the coming days.
