The Belgian No. 1 and her partner left no chance to their opponents in the second set, taking all of the American pair’s serve and only losing their serve once.

Mertens and Hsieh will face, for a place in the final, the duo formed by the Czech Katerina Siniakova (WTA 5 in doubles) and the American Taylor Townsend (WTA 24 in doubles), victorious on her side over the one composed of the Ukrainian Lyudmyla Kichenok (WTA 15 in doubles) and the Latvian Jelena Ostapenko (WTA 17 in doubles): 6-1, 6-3 in 68 minutes of play.

This will be Mertens’ fourth consecutive Wimbledon doubles semifinal. She won Wimbledon in 2021 with Hsieh. In the last two years, she lost in the final, alongside China’s Zhang Shuai in 2022 and Australia’s Storm Hunter in 2023.

The other semi-final will pit Americans Caroline Dolehide and Desirae Krawczyk (No. 7) against Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski and Australian Erin Routliffe (No. 2), winner of the US Open last year.
