Bellingham’s overhead kick saves England

English was on the brink and was only a matter of seconds away from elimination in Euro 2024. However, Jude Bellingham kept England’s hopes up through his overhead goal.

From England vs Slovakia in the round of 16 of Euro 2024 held at the Veltins-Arena, Gelsenkirchen, Sunday (30/6/2024) evening WIB. Having fallen behind, The Three Lions won 2-1 through extra time.

England conceded first after Ivan Schranz broke through Jordan Pickford’s goal in the 25th minute. Slovakia’s lead lasted until the final minutes of second-half injury time.

Slovakia’s victory which was in sight was destroyed by Bellingham. The player, who just turned 21 on Saturday (29/6), broke through the Slovakia goal with an overhead kick.

This goal started from Kyle Walker’s throw-in which led to the penalty box. Marc Guehi deflected the ball with a header and was finished by Bellingham.

“Jude Bellingham scored a great goal and he kept our hopes alive in this tournament. His goal was one of the best in the history of our country,” said Harry Kane to ITV1.

“What a great player. He works hard for the team. In the big moments, he shows up. That’s what we need. We need everyone to show up in the big moments.”

England finally took the lead after Kane scored a goal at the start of extra time. Gareth Southgate’s troops will next face Switzerland in the Euro 2024 quarter-finals on July 6 at the Dusseldorf Arena.
