Despite a very tricky start to free agency, the Lakers have welcomed a few new faces to their team in recent days. One of them, who has flown under the radar, could also prove to be THE good surprise of the season.
While they may not have made a positive impact on the transfer or free agent market, they have made a more favorable impression on the sidelines of the Draft. Beyond the controversial case of Bronny James, the Lakers were indeed named among the big winners of the ceremony. Their first selection was thus described as a stroke of genius.while others might prove to be just as well-felt.
Blake Hinson, the Lakers’ find that’s creating a buzz
Having only held two picks during the Draft, the Lakers had to wait until the end of the latter to get their hands on other unselected prospects. Blake Hinson (18.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 42% from 3-point range) is a 6-foot-10 wing and one of the best shooters in the draft. He shot 44% on contested 3-pointers and led the nation in points scored on contested catch-and-shoots.
Blake Hinson, 24, waited until the end of his NCAA career to try to join the NBA. He did well, since his performances last year with Pittsburgh convinced the Purple & Gold to give him a chance. No doubt weighed down by his already advanced age for a rookie, Blake Hinson is nonetheless full of qualities. The Lakers have therefore decided to take a gamble by offering him a two-way contract, which will surely allow him to show himself in the NBA next year.
