Boston Celtics Locking in Key Players for Championship Contention: Xavier Tillman Signs Two-Year Contract

To say that the Celtics’ roster for the 2024-25 season will resemble that of the one that won the championship is an understatement. If Brad Stevens announced that a large number of kids were likely to return to the team, for now Boston is doing everything right.

After closing the renewals of Luke Kornet and Neemias Queta, he has now done the same with another piece of his interior game, Xavier Tillman, whom he has signed to a contract for the next two seasons; reports Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Tillman, who was a last-minute reinforcement in the 2023-24 season when he arrived via a transfer in February, played 20 regular season games and averaged 5.3 points and 3.9 rebounds; however, his contribution decreased during the playoffs when his minutes were reduced – he only played eight games – to 1.5 points and 1.8 rebounds.

Beyond these secondary moves, the Celtics have secured their future by signing Jayson Tatum to the largest extension in NBA history, and also renewing Derrick White’s contract. Yes, in 2024-25 they are aiming to be favorites again.
