Boukli’s Quest for Bronze: A Heartbreaking Quarter-Final Loss at the Paris Grand Slam

Shirine Boukli (-48 kg) will not be Olympic champion in Paris. The FLAM 91 resident fell in the quarter-finals against Natsumi Tsunoda (4th in the world) without really being able to put her judo in place. The Japanese indeed won after a minute of combat with her first real attack, stunning and unstoppable, a tomoe-nage on which Boukli could do nothing.

The step was too high for the Essonne native. Very disappointed when she left the tatamis, she will try to bounce back during the repechage (starting at 4 p.m.) to go for a bronze medal at the end of the afternoon. She will first have to get rid of the Italian Assunta Scutto, world number one, who also fell in the quarter-finals.
