Group D of the 2024 Copa America played its final match. At Levi’s Stadium, California, Wednesday (3/7/2024), Brazil vs Colombia was tight from the start.

Both teams took turns attacking. James Rodriguez almost gave Colombia an early lead in the 8th minute. His left-footed free kick sent the ball crashing into the Brazilian crossbar.

Two minutes later, Brazil responded through Bruno Guimaraes. Continuing Raphinha’s pass, his shot was still blocked by the Colombian goalkeeper.

Brazil finally managed to take the lead in the 12th minute. Raphinha scored a left-footed free kick, which sent the ball straight into the Colombian net. The score was 1-0 for the Samba Team.

Falling behind made Colombia come out pressing. The equalizer only arrived in the final minutes of the first half, through Daniel Munoz. The score was 1-1 at the break.

In the second half, the match was a little more intense. Although both teams attacked each other, there were few chances.

Colombia threatened several times through Jhon Cordoba. While Vinicius and Raphinha are still a threat to their opponents.

Until the match was over, there was no winner. Brazil vs Colombia ended 1-1, ensuring Colombia became the champion of Group D with 7 points, followed by Brazil as the runner up with 5 points. Both teams qualified for the last 8.

Elsewhere, Costa Rica’s win over Paraguay failed to secure their place in the last eight. Costa Rica won 2-1, with early goals from Francisco Calvo and Josima Alcocer, which were cancelled out by Ramon Sosa. The win saw Costa Rica finish third on four points, while Paraguay finished bottom on nine.
