Brazil’s Netu Suffers Injury in Olympic Qualifier Win Over Montenegro

The Brazilian national team beat Montenegro with the result 81:72 in the first match of the qualification at “Arena Riga” on Tuesday. According to CBB, Netu suffered a left hamstring injury in the third quarter that will keep him out of the remainder of the Olympic qualifiers.

Netu is one of the leaders of the Brazilian national team, who played for the Utah Jazz, Philadelphia 76ers, Washington Wizards and Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association (NBA) from 2015 to 2023.

Last season, the 32-year-old Netu moved to Europe and joined the Turkish giant Istanbul “Fenerbahce”, but did not go on the field because he suffered a serious knee injury during the World Cup.

The Brazilian national team will continue its Olympic qualification on Thursday, when it will meet Cameroon in the final match of subgroup B.

Latvia, Georgia and the Philippines are playing in subgroup A.

The first two teams of the sub-groups will enter the semi-finals, the winners of which will fight for the only ticket to Paris on Sunday, July 7.
