Brooklyn Nets Give Killian Hayes a Chance at NBA Redemption

The Nets completely broke their sports project at the dawn of summer, to rebuild from scratch with draft picks and a novice coach. According to information from Erik Slater, Brooklyn is currently testing a certain Killian Hayes in Vegas. A potential small recruit at a smart price, and a real opportunity to relaunch his NBA career for the player.

Over the years, Killian Hayes has become, in the imagination of NBA fans, a sort of meme that unfortunately comes up in every conversation that contains the word “bust”. Arriving at the Pistons with the 7th pick in the 2020 Draft, he never really managed to establish himself in the team, and the recruitments of Cade Cunningham and then Jaden Ivey on the back line in the following years almost definitively buried the Hayes project in Michigan.

A small (cheap) signing to start a season at the bottom of the East, a good plan for Brooklyn.

Released at the end of spring by the Motor City franchise, Killian Hayes briefly participated in the preparation campaign of the French basketball team for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, but there again, he was not kept. Currently in Las Vegas, he would therefore be training under the eyes of the Nets. On paper, the plan is rather good: after four gloomy seasons in Detroit, Hayes could have the opportunity to relaunch himself in the NBA. A different context, with a team that does not want to win. Pressure at a minimum, the idea is to get back into sporting health and improve his rating with the rest of the league.

In the past, other players have also taken advantage of contexts like this to restore their reputation. Without leaving Brooklyn, we can cite the case of D’Angelo Russell, who arrived at the Nets after a failure with the Lakers and left with a selection at the All-Star Game. The story will probably not be as beautiful for Hayes, but nothing prevents us from hoping for the best for the nugget who came out of Cholet Basket.
