Buddy Hield Takes on Klay Thompson’s Role with the Golden State Warriors

Buddy Hield will fill the shoes that Klay Thompson occupied with the Golden State Warriors after being acquired in a trade with the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday.

In return, the Sixers get their hands on a 2031 second-round pick (via Dallas). Hield also signed a new deal that guarantees him $21 million over two years.

Over the past five years, Hield ranks second in the NBA behind new teammate Stephen Curry in three-pointers made.

Earlier this week, Curry’s longtime partner Klay Thompson signed a two-year contract with the Dallas Mavericks.

Over the course of his career, Hield is shooting 40 percent from behind the three-point arc.

A native of Freeport, Bahamas, Hield split last season between the Sixers and Indiana Pacers, appearing in 84 games total.

He averaged 12.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 25.7 minutes per game.

Originally selected with the sixth overall pick in the 2016 draft by Oklahoma, Hield has appeared in 632 games over eight seasons with the Sixers, Pacers, Kings and Pelicans.
