Bundesliga: Match schedules for the 2024/25 season have been finalised

1st and 2nd Bundesliga DFL publishes match schedules: Bundesliga starts the new season with Rhine derby

The DFL has published the match schedules for the Bundesliga and the 2nd division. Gladbach and Leverkusen will open the 2024/25 season, FC Bayern Munich will start in Wolfsburg.

The German record champions FC Bayern Munich with new coach Vincent Kompany have to travel to VfL Wolfsburg for the start of the 62nd season of the Bundesliga. This is evident from the match schedules published by the German Football League on Thursday. The season will open on August 23 with the Rhine derby between Borussia Mönchengladbach and champions Bayer Leverkusen.

Vice-champion VfB Stuttgart also has an explosive derby to face at the start of the season. VfB will face SC Freiburg on August 24th/25th. A week earlier, Stuttgart will challenge the double winners from Leverkusen in the Supercup on August 17th. The duel between Bayer and FC Bayern will take place on matchday 5 (September 27th-29th) in Munich and on matchday 22 (February 14th-16th, 2025) in Leverkusen.

Bundesliga start for two promoted teams

Newcomer Holstein Kiel has to play its Bundesliga debut away at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. Fellow promoted team FC St. Pauli, on the other hand, can start in front of a home crowd. The Hamburg team will host 1. FC Heidenheim on matchday 1. Last year’s Champions League finalist Borussia Dortmund also enjoys home advantage in its opening match against Europa League participant Eintracht Frankfurt.

The DFL plans to announce the exact schedule for the first five match days in mid-July. The season ends on May 17 next year.
