Eintracht Frankfurt has won the race for Can Uzun and has given the Regensburg native a contract until summer 2029. For the offensive player, FCN will receive a base transfer fee of ten million euros plus possible bonuses.

“Can has delivered exceptional performances for 1. FC Nuremberg in the past 2023/24 season. This transfer is something special for him and the entire club family,” says Olaf Rebbe, FCN’s sporting director: “On the one hand, we are losing an absolute top performer, but on the other hand, this transfer and its framework will help FCN on several levels.” The finalization and processing of the transfer was “intensive, but always very trusting.”

16 second division goals as application letters

Uzun will quickly take the next step in his career; he only made his second division debut in the season before last on matchday 32 in the away game in Magdeburg (2:2). In 2023/24, the German-Turk, who had been on the notebooks of several clubs, became an absolute regular at the club.

“Can Uzun is an example of the path we want to take at the club, developing young talents and preparing them for the Bundesliga within our own ranks,” says Joti Chatzialexiou, the new FCN sports director: “Can has now set the bar very high for our young players in many ways. He is an absolute role model for our young players of the current era.”

The fine technician, who feels most comfortable in the offensive half position but was also used as a centre forward in Nuremberg, proved his goal-scoring ability with 16 goals in 30 games. He also recorded two assists. Nevertheless, he did not make it into the Turkish European Championship squad in the end – and expressed his incomprehension about this.

He has extraordinary abilities for his age.

Markus Krösche about Can Uzun

Now Uzun is looking ahead. “Eintracht Frankfurt is the perfect place for me and my further development,” he says. “I’m really looking forward to the new challenge and can hardly wait to present myself to the Eintracht fans.”

SGE sports director Markus Krösche called his new acquisition “one of the greatest talents in Germany”: “He has exceptional abilities for his age. We showed Can our clear plan and convinced him.”

Eintracht had already signed another club talent in U-21 international Nathaniel Brown, but left the left-back on loan in Franconia until this summer. Central defender Aurele Amenda (BSC Young Boys) and attacker Krisztian Lisztes (Ferencvaros Budapest) have also been confirmed as new signings.
