Point guard Silvia Domínguez, captain of the Spanish women’s basketball team, will miss the 2024 Paris Olympics, as she will not be able to join the team due to an injury suffered in the last training sessions held at the Vigo training camp.
“Silvia Domínguez, captain of the National Team and one of the team’s leaders in recent years, will not be able to continue preparing for the Olympic event with the team nor will she be able to be in Paris 2024,” is stated in a statement from the Spanish Basketball Federation.
The statement states that “after arriving at the training camp in top condition and completing the first week at the same pace as her teammates, an injury suffered in the final phase of her stay in Vigo will not allow her to continue preparing for the Olympics.”
The FEB did not mention in its statement the physical mishap suffered by the player, limiting itself to stating that “the team had a few days off during which the point guard underwent tests that determined that she suffered an injury.”
